THE BASICS:
Whenever I do a school visit, I have a two-fold goal: to EDUCATE and ENTERTAIN students. In other words, I won't just talk about my books or my writing—I'll teach your students how to be better writers. And—just as importantly—I promise not to be boring!
My program is designed for grades 3-6. Each 45- to 60-minute session is loaded with interactive opportunities for every student and generally includes the following:
- A TOP SECRET WRITING TRICK students can immediately apply to their own writing;
- Humorous T. P. JAGGER TRIVIA that connects to my own journey to become an author;
- A sprinkling of FUN FACTS that give a behind-the-scene glimpse into the Hide and GEEK series;
- And finally, if time allows … Q & A. (This typically only fits within a 60-minute session.)
- (I will also happily sign copies of my books. Because I think if a student or teacher is excited enough to buy one of my books, then the least I can do is scribble my name inside!)
Of course, while I know schools love to have authors come and talk to students, I also know that budgets often make such visits difficult to afford. That's why I strive to make my visits as budget-friendly as possible. For schools within 25 miles of Federal Way, WA, I charge:
- Half Day:
- 1 session (45-60 minutes) + book signing: $350
- 2 sessions (45-60 minutes each; morning or afternoon) + book signing: $550
- Full Day: $700
- 3 sessions (45-60 minutes each; 1 can be an abbreviated K-2 presentation, if desired)
- Book signing
- Optional "EAT WITH THE AUTHOR" for 5-10 students (lunch organized & provided by the school)
For schools within 26-70 miles of Federal Way, travel is billed at $.65 per mile. For schools further than 70 miles from Federal Way, please contact me to discuss costs and availability.
*Schools within a single district may be able to share costs by splitting my sessions between multiple schools during a single day.
